Local Middle School Says It With Pride!
What does it take to win a national contest with Balfour? Maybe having an adviser with a good understanding of “capturing the moment”!
Eighth-grader Arianna Hernandez was out shooting for their superlative spread at Sawgrass Springs Middle School in Coral Springs, FL, working to get people to look real and not posed. When she returned to the staffroom and downloaded her pictures, Ms. Ingrid Molina, the yearbook adviser, saw something intriguing in one shot in particular. Julie Kasper, their Balfour rep, had just been in to see them and had been urging them to enter. “Someone has to win. Why not you?” she said.
The staff decided to submit Arianna’s shot for the “Say-It-With-Pride” headline contest captioning her image “Seeing is believing.” “He didn’t even want his picture taken,” Arianna said when she was told that her image won Popular Vote honors.
